All Lima Public Library locations will be closed on Monday, May 29, in observance of Memorial Day.
Food is not permitted in any Library location, including the main library in Lima, and branch libraries in Cairo, Elida, Lafayette and Spencerville. Drinks with lids are permitted.
On May 1, 2017, Lima Public Library became a tobacco-free campus. This means that the use of smokeless and smoking tobacco products are prohibited on Library grounds, at all library locations, including Lima, Cairo, Elida, Lafayette, and Spencerville. The ban includes e-cigarettes and other nicotine products.
We are proud to announce that through a partnership with Altrusa International, Inc of Lima Ohio, a local service organization, we will have MP3 players with a narrated walking tour of downtown Lima available for check out beginning Saturday, May 13th at 11am. Altrusa developed the tour to highlight Lima's downtown historical buildings, businesses and even local figures. The tour will be available on a continuous basis through the library, which is the tour’s starting and ending location.
Are you up for a challenge this National Library Week? Try to Escape the Library! This escape room begins with the library ghost locking you and a group of friends in an out of the way room. Use the clues and puzzles in the room to escape before you're trapped in the library overnight. Please reserve a spot for your group by calling the library at 419-228-5113 ext.128. Time slots are available on Saturday, April 15th between 10am and 12pm for teens only and from 12pm- 4pm for all age ranges.
Lisa Fagin Davis, executive director of the Medieval Academy of America, will be at the main library on Thursday, March 30 and Friday, March 31, to answer questions and offer free verbal evaluations/appraisals of illuminated manuscripts. Davis is especially interested in manuscripts that were sold by Lima Public Library during the 1930s-50s.
